Jesse Rae had a rough night and I managed to e-mail him and apologise for the crowd , and as is the measure of the man he CALLED me the next day to say thanks. I'...I think it depends what you are looking for. I'm not a musician and come from the popeye school of thought when it comes to bands.
I likes what I likes.
I've seen guitarists who are classed as virtuso performers and they have bored me to tears and I've seen bands who only know two chords and I've left with the hairs standing up on the back of my neck.
I've also seen bands who are so basic that they are months away from even thinking about playing live.
I personally found dressing for pleasure to be a great wee band. I liked the drumming and while the guitar work wasn't on par with Hendrix I felt it fitted over all with what they are doing. There was a primal feeling to it all. It's a **** thinghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00053355188293146177noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-933702603737809721.post-31060621043185181092011-06-02T16:28:53.329+01:002011-06-02T16:28:53.329+01:00Saw Adam last night (1/6) at Birmingham ... oh my ...Saw Adam last night (1/6) at Birmingham ... oh my god, how awesome ! Fantastic gig.

However I can't agree with you about Dressing for Pleasure ... saying their performance was "weak" is being kind. Particularly bad was the guitarist to be honest, who's playing was distinctly "song a day" book (and speaking as a guitarist in a gigging band I'm reasonably qualified to comment). The highlight of that band is the drummer.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-933702603737809721.post-74443669710486557682011-05-28T11:00:30.097+01:002011-05-28T11:00:30.097+01:00I saw Adam in Dundee on Saturday and Inverness on ...I saw Adam in Dundee on Saturday and Inverness on Sunday. F- ANT - astic! I also have worshiped him for 30 years. Before the first gig I thought this is going to be really good or really bad. Phew, they were the most fantastic gigs I've ever been to. Mr Ant's still got it - by the bucket load! As for the 'kilt' episode - I thought that was maybe staged for a 'punk' reaction. However, he seemed to have though better of it and ditched it for Inverness and Glasgow :) Think he does really like to please his fans xxAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-933702603737809721.post-55098166757456179062011-05-28T00:53:24.551+01:002011-05-28T00:53:24.551+01:00It's because of her age. I'm sure in different circumstances, and in front of a different crowd, he would have had a better run at things, but as it was it fell flat and the horses head didn't seem to have any purpose at all. It's a **** thinghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00053355188293146177noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-933702603737809721.post-91214684256752838562011-05-25T16:01:12.379+01:002011-05-25T16:01:12.379+01:00What an excellent review.

What was with the severed horse's head?

Adam was awesome. I wondered whether this was just my heavily biased opinion (having worshipped at the altar of Mr Ant for 30+ years) but my pal didn't know any of the old stuff or b-sides and she thought he was excellent too.

Two hours wasn't enough - you're absolutely right, the entire room would have continued to lap that up well into the wee small hours.

He's an absolute one off.Katenoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-933702603737809721.post-83912011321236217602011-05-24T23:40:17.967+01:002011-05-24T23:40:17.967+01:00Great review!

The stage was too big and the footage he was showing on a small screen seemed very dated to.
His main problem was that no one was that interested though. He's an absolute Scottish legend as far as I'm concerned. It's a travesty that he wasn't well received and if I'd known he was playing I would have tried to attend. He works hard in his community and promotes good causes and local art through his Brick FM radio show. An all-round good guy.Rosshttp://www.vacantonline.co.uknoreply@blogger.com
